Unique Individuals come but once in a lifetime and
sometimes life in short lived. Jorge Rolando "Roly" was born in
Edinburg, Texas to Jorge A. & Guillermina Gutierrez. Roly was a
special joy to his parents, always loving, carefree, and focused on family
and friends. his parents could always count on him to be a role model
and inspiring leader. As the oldest, Roly always had a special and
loving relationship with his two sisters, Vanessa and Amanda and his cousin
Jeff Torres. With his smiling face, ready jokes, and fun-loving
personality, Roly truly enjoyed sharing quality time with friends and
family. A former outstanding point guard for the Edcouch-Elsa Yellow
Jackets, he took his love of students and the sport to a successful coaching
record as the E-E Varsity Girls basketball coach. "Coach Guti's" teams
participated in the state playoffs his last two years, winning bi-district
honors in 2004. His passion for the game led him to a fulfilling
coaching career. He taught English Literature and Health at
Edcouch-Elsa High School where he dedicated his time and energy. Roly
knew he found his passion in life when teaching in the classroom and
coaching on and off the court went far beyond his expected duties. His
students and athletes cherish his wit for life long lessons and
contributions that will live in the hearts of many. Roly lived his life
to the fullest playing golf, fishing, taking trips, and being with his
friends and family. Anyone who knew Roly could serve as testimony that
he was not only a man with a giving heart and a contagious smile, but his
presence was always a pleasure. His parents and sisters dedicate the
following scripture to Roly:
"And behold, I am with you always, until
the end of the age." (Matthew 28:20) |
